About Donald Darst
Originally from Kentucky, Don holds a Bachelor's degree in Behavioral Science and a Master's degree in Adult Learning. In his career of training and technology, Don traveled throughout the country and was inspired by the unique colors and textures of the Southwest. He was encouraged by a local artist to follow his dream and began his study of oil painting in 1994.
In 1995, Don and his wife, Linda, moved to the Texas Hill Country following in the footsteps of his ancestor Jacob, who fought in the Alamo. His study of oil painting continued under several well-known Boerne artists.
Don paints landscapes of the Southwest and still life portrayals of items from his Antique and Native American collections. His oil paintings range from very painterly works done with pallet knife to realistic representations.
Don holds private art showings throughout the year, participates in the annual Grey Forest Open Studio held each fall.
